Home studio set up – facing your drum kit

The above picture is how my home studio is set up.  As a one-man-show most of the time, I find having the drum chair quickly accessible is more important than facing the computer screen, therefore I have my drums facing away from me and toward the wall.  Am I the only one??

Does this sound familiar: You record a guitar riff  then put guitar down, pick up and record a Bass line over the guitar riff.  Now you put the Bass down and have to run over to the drums after hitting record on the keyboard.  Nothing slows you down more than having to walk around the kit each time.  When actual drummers come over to my home studio to record, they typically don't like facing the wall, but I think it's a fair trade off for not having to run around the drum kit each time before the song starts playing while recording alone.

Granted, there are solutions, such as wireless keyboards and extra monitors by the drum kit etc, but most of us don't have those line items in our home recording studio budget.

Which way do you face your drums?
